Leadership
The Great Eastern Ranges Initiative is in its early stages of evolution. Having begun its journey with a small team of people within the New South Wales Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, it quickly forged partnerships with a wide variety of organisations.
It soon became clear that leadership for this socially inclusive model of operation belonged with a broader alliance of community based organisations. The process of developing this leadership model is well under way and 6 organisations have emerged to be part of the discussion. They are:
- Bush Heritage Australia
- Greening Australia
- National Parks Association
- Nature Conservation Trust of NSW
- NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water
- OzGREEN.
These organisations are contributing funds and other resources that extend the funds provided by the NSW Environmental Trust. They are working to improve connectivity conservation as well as fostering community support awareness and involvement and linking with a large range of other partner organisations and stakeholder groups.
In priority areas they help to facilitate regionally based networks that work together to develop and deliver regional conservation action plans.
