Hunter Valley Partnership Facilitator

Gabriel AndersonBachelor of Science in Resource and Environmental Management with Honours, Australian National University, 2001.

I am working with OzGREEN in New South Wales to facilitate community and partnership involvement in the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative in the Hunter Valley.

I am a lead facilitator of OzGREEN's award-winning YouthLEAD and MYRiveR programs, having come from managing all OzGREEN programs in South Australia and the Northern Territory.

I have a background with and passion for native vegetation and environmental restoration. I followed this passion in high school where I co-founded an environment group. Though this group I learnt how to facilitate groups and meetings, manage projects and campaigns and get the community involved. I also operated a native plant nursery and provided bush regeneration and riparian rehabilitation projects with local species.

I took this passion off to Uni and completed a Bachelor of Science in Resource and Environmental Management with honours at the Australian National University. After completing Uni I worked with an environmental planning firm (Sustainable Futures Australia) as a Sustainability Officer. I began working casually for OzGREEN in 2003, first in Northern NSW and then in South Australia in 2004.

Gabe at a Great Eastern Ranges Hunter Valley Stakeholder Steering Committee Meeting. In 2005 I worked as a Wetlands Officer for the Department for Environment and Heritage (South Australian State Government). In this role I was liasing with landholders (including private landholders, state government departments and agencies, and federal government) to add 15 wetlands to the register of nationally important wetlands. I have been working fulltime with OzGREEN since January 2006.

I am looking forward to applying my skills and experience to the Great Eastern Ranges Hunter Valley program and have already enjoyed working with the diverse range of agencies and stakeholders involved with the project.
