The Great Eastern Ranges Initiative is built on a foundation of partnerships. It acknowledges the important role all landholders, NGO’s, councils, government agencies, industries and the community have in conserving and managing our unique and rich biological diversity. A clear and transparent rationale is used to select priorities and priority regions within the GER corridor that enables the effective allocation of scarce resources and to garner commitment from all the contributing partners. This includes extensive analysis and planning, which takes into account environmental and social values and need, and regional and project-specific planning phases, both at the whole-of-corridor and regional scale. In this way both priority projects and partnerships can be identified.
