Australian Traveller Launches Great Eastern Ranges Photo Competition
The Great Eastern Ranges are the backyard to our cities; they are places we visit for recreation and to restore our spirit, and are home to many treasured World Heritage areas, National Parks, alpine regions, forests, woodlands, rainforests and communities.

Join with Australian Traveller and The Great Eastern Ranges Initiative to create 'My Great Eastern Ranges' on film.
By entering the Great Eastern Ranges Photo Competition in Australian Traveller magazine, photographers have the chance to have images published in Australia's top travel magazine and win a swag of prizes valued at $22,000.
The prizes, awarded across 4 categories, include:
- 3 x ultimate Coleman outdoor camping packages, at a total value of $7,500
- 3 x 5-day all-inclusive rentals in a KEA vehicle of your choice, at a total value of $6,000
- 4 x Tamron AF 18–270 mm VC lenses, at a total value of $5,196
- 3 x luxury 2-night packages at Lilianfels in the Blue Mountains, including dinner at Darley's, at a total value of $3,396.
A panel of Australia's best photographers – including Grenville Turner, George Suresh, Inger Van Dyke and Australian Traveller Editor Greg Barton – will judge the photos in the following categories:
- My Community – People who live and work in the Great Eastern Ranges
- My Escape – Landscapes, places and activities in the Great Eastern Ranges
- My Habitat – Flora and Fauna of the Great Eastern Ranges
- Young Gun – A category for under-21-year-olds, featuring photographic subjects found on the Great Eastern Ranges.
Winners will have their images published in the April/May 2010 issue of Australian Traveller Magazine, and the winning shots will become part of an exhibition travelling throughout the Great Eastern Ranges.
