Natural Highlights

The Border Ranges, Mount Warning and Nightcap Range National Parks are World Heritage listed, as part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia.

Wollumbin National Park (including Mount Warning National Park)

Bushwalk through the lush subtropical rainforest of the Lyrebird Track around Mount Warning's base, listening for the whipcrack call of the Eastern Whipbird (Psophodes (Psophodes) olivaceus) and the copycat cry of the rare Albert’s Lyrebird (Menura alberti). Picnic with Kangaroos, Koalas, Spotted-tail Quolls and Squirrel Gliders. See the rare Rufous Scrub-bird (Atrichornis rufescens), Wompoo Fruit-dove (Ptilinopus magnificus) and Marbled Frogmouth (Podargus ocellatus).

Border Ranges National Park

In Border Rangers National Park – home to Australia’s highest concentration of marsupial species – you’ll meet Echidnas, Bandicoots, Platypuses, Pademelons, Possums and Flying-foxes. Climb Pinnacle Lookout, on the rim of massive Wollumbin Crater, then picnic in an Antarctic Beech forest .

Nightcap Range National Park

Hike past the Minyon, Mount Nardi and Protestors waterfalls in the scenic Nightcap Range.
