Natural Highlights
Some people stop in the Southern Highlands just to visit the magnificent waterfalls! But explore a little further and you will find limestone caves, steep cliffs, Glow Worms and bushwalking tracks aplenty.
Waterfalls
Visit the easily accessible Fitzroy and Belmore falls in northern end of Morton National Park, or the untamed Carrington Falls in the Buderoo National Park.
Wombeyan Caves
Take guided and self-guided tours of these spectacular limestone caves, featuring vast caverns adorned with striking and delicate formations. You can also follow walking trails that lead to spectacular canyons, lookouts and waterfalls.
Cecil Hoskins Nature Reserve
Cecil Hoskins Nature Reserve is a birdwatcher's paradise. You can see over 90 bird species in this tranquil wetland, of which about a ⅓ are waterfowl. Platypi also inhabit this area.
Buderoo National Park
Buderoo National Park features the best examples of subtropical and warm temperate rainforest which once extensively covered the Illawarra region. Visit the award winning Minnamurra Rainforest Centre, have a picnic, or take a walk on one of the many accessible raised boardwalks.
