Tweed Landcare
Border Ranges
Overview
Tweed Landcare Inc. is a non-profit community organisation working in the Tweed catchment to achieve long term ecological sustainability. We support Landcare, Bushcare, Rivercare & Coastcare projects within the community through advice, project management, on ground participation, education, networking, consultation & assistance with access to resources.
What we do
Tweed Landcare Inc. contributes to ecological connectivity in the Border Ranges by supporting onground restoration projects for landholders and community groups.
We also hold Landcare displays at community events, workshops and field days, distribute a monthly newsletter and contribute articles to local media in order to promote awareness of biodiversity conservation.
What we have achieved
Tweed Landcare Inc. was formed as an incorporated community group in 1997 through the Tweed Catchment Management Committee.
We agree with the definition and objectives of total catchment management as set out in the Catchment Management Act 1989 and share the ideals of the landcare (Landcare, Coastcare, Dunecare, Rivercare) movement.
13 years on, Tweed Landcare Inc. still carries out a useful role in both onground, education and skills development projects that contribute to biodiversity conservation in our catchment. Our partners include Aboriginal community, local community organisations, farmers, business, local, state and Australian government and other Landcare organisations across the Northern Rivers Catchment Management Authority region.
We are proud to be a Border Ranges Alliance member of the Great Eastern Ranges Initiative and play our part in conserving the internationally recognised biodiversity of the Tweed.
