The Web Inc (Brisbane Region Environment Council)
Border Ranges
Overview
The Web Inc is the Regional Conservation Group for Greater Brisbane. Representatives sat on about 25 State and Local government Committees Expert Panels, but these have been slashed by Agencies to about three.
In terms of the Border Ranges Alliance BREC has a stake in Bahrs Scrub and Rainforest Stepping Stones in the Flinders Peak -Greenbank -Karawatha Corridor. Some members worked historically with TEC on aspects of Levers Plateau Border Ranges National Park. About a dozen unmapped rainforest pockets in the Flinders Peak to Mt Barney Bioregional Corridor, threatened by neglect, some logging or infrastructure are being documented piecemeal. Other rainforests and Old Growth Forests exist north of Springbrook and Lamington National Parks, in the Border Ranges and in the Main Range largely unprotected and requiring documentation.
