What we do

Landowners at a workshop getting to know their dung beetles. We are currently undertaking targeted and strategic environmental weed control in the upper reaches of Findon and Roseberry Creeks and Upper Richmond River areas of the Border Ranges. This rehabilitation work will improve the condition of habitat and enhance value of corridor connections between World Heritage listed Gondwana Rainforests in the area. These works will make a significant contribution to improving and protecting remnant and regenerating riparian vegetation and connectivity by removing several species of invasive weeds from the riparian and connecting gully areas. This work will extend and will link past work achieved in previous projects in the Border Ranges area resulting in a total of 60.7km of stream banks under active management.

NLSS is part of a Caring For Our Country bid which would allow us to work with more landowners in the Upper Richmond area as well as in the Barkers Vale area to continue to improve the condition of habitat and corridor connections in this World Heritage Area.

What we have achieved

  • Landowners learning about composting techniques at a biological farming workshop.Community Support Contract with NRCMA for west, upper and lower Richmond and upper Clarence
  • Contracts with DECCW for bush regeneration services and awareness raising events
  • Bush regeneration services for private landowners
  • Project managed CMA contracts for on-ground biodiversity outcomes in the Upper Richmond and Coastal Evans Head area
  • Work agreements with Richmond Valley Council to deliver awareness raising events and bush regeneration services
