Overview

The North Coat Environment Council was formed in 1976 and represents more than forty member groups and individuals across its primary area of operation which extends from the Hunter to Tweed catchments and west to the New England Highway.

The objectives of the NCEC are:

To work for the better conservation of the physical environment of the North Coast region, its landscape, its flora and fauna, its waters and foreshores and coasts, to work for the maintenance and improvement of its human amenities, and the wise use of its natural resources, and to engage in any and all conservation, environmental, ecological or planning activities and in such ways as the Council may decide.

We are primarily an environmental lobby group, which represents the views of our members through coordinating submissions, making representation to politicians and decision makers, and where necessary pursuing legal action to protect the environment.  The NCEC may also engage in community educational activities which promote sustainability and environmental protection.
