Logan and Albert Conservation AssociationLocation: Logan City Council and Scenic Rim Region Council Qld

The Logan and Albert Conservation Association:

  • Plays an active role in the protection and enhancement of the environment with particular emphasis on the Scenic Rim Region, Logan City, and areas immediately adjacent.
  • Promotes the concept of environmental sustainability as an essential criterion of planning for development.
  • Informs the community on all aspects of conservation.
  • Researches and reports on current and proposed activities likely to affect the local environment.
  • Encourages the widest possible public consultation and informed debate on matters of conservation and environmental importance to the local community.

What we do

  • Logan and Albert Conservation AssociationMembers have attended Gondwana Rainforests of Australia formally CERRA (Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves of Australia) group meetings eg Richard Zoomers (Wild Mountains);
  • Members with prior experience in the Border Ranges area for example Ted Fensom;
  • Revegetation projects at Mt Barney (Yellowpinch Reserve), Laravale and Veresdale Scrub (Bilarabyn);
  • Conducted wildlife workshops and koala workshops in Scenic Rim Regional Council (few koala sightings recorded for Scenic Rim area);
  • Public education displays about Veresdale Scrub and LACA projects, for example at the Beaudesert Show;
  • Writing submissions in response to proposed development and infrastructure projects.

What we have achieved

  • Submissions to state and local government in relation to regional planning and the South East Queensland Regional Plan (SEQRP).
  • Revegetation projects at Mt Barney (Yellowpinch), Laravale and Veresdale Scrub.
  • Community education at Beaudesert Show, wildlife workshops, koala workshops and Presentations to local councils, for example Logan City Council.
