Border Ranges

Overview

The Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) is the NSW government environment and conservation lead agency. The Biodiversity Assessment and Conservation Section (BACS) undertakes conservation assessment and biodiversity planning across the north coast of NSW from the Queensland border to the central coast. BACS also provides support for programs to recover the threatened species, populations and ecological communities of north east NSW.

What we do

North East Branch BACS provides ongoing information assessment, planning support and investment advice on the conservation of biodiversity on public and private land in the Border Ranges.

What we have achieved

North East Branch BACS has been involved in landscape planning and implementation in the Border Ranges since becoming a founding partner in the Border Ranges Integrated Biodiversity Planning and Implementation Program in 2004.  North East Branch BACS was the principal author of the Border Ranges Rainforest Biodiversity Management Plan and is also the principal author of the Northern Rivers Regional Biodiversity Management Plan.
